My artwork is as diverse in subject matter as it is in medium. The art in which I create reflects my Native American heritage, living in the Hawaiian Culture, strong bond with nature, passion for conservation, and love of people. Painting is my true passion yet exploring other mediums has grown me as an artist, resulting in me returning to painting with maturity and clarity. From a young age I painted artwork and watched films to escape reality and find a bit of peace from the intenseness that surrounded my home life. I painted and drew my way through high school, began to show my artwork in galleries, and obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from the University of Hawaii. While showing my artwork around the nation an opportunity arose for me to work in the medium of film which grew me as an artist and funded my additional painting supplies and travel to attend my art openings. Creating in several mediums of art gave me the freedom to discover my spirituality and encouraged me to fully divulge my repressed thoughts and emotions. I find myself recharged and enriched each time I return to my foundation of painting. I share my gifts as an artist by participating in community outreaches, volunteering for several non-profits, designing an art program, and mentor young artists. By bringing art to one’s community you deliver a safe haven for others, bring people together, and bridge cultural diversities. My love for fellow artists led me to produce documentaries that showcase artists, musicians, and athletes. It is my goal to create extraordinary work of the highest caliber that enlightens, encourages, and inspires.
